the award-winning documentary on the work and life of Jane Goodall, directed by Brett Morgen. The film uses original footage from Hugo van Lawick, filmed in 1964 and received multiple awards, including an Emmy for Brett Morgen for “Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program”. After the film, Julia Fischer, professor for Cognitive Ethology will discuss Jane Goodall’s work and her role for primatology and the protection of primates. Fischer also runs the German Primate Center’s field station in Senegal, where she studies the social organisation of Guinea baboons. Building on her experience, she will also speak about the development of primate field research from the 1960s until today.
