GOSSIP: Discussion on the Changes to the OSF on October 20 from 2pm to 3pm

Dear Colleagues,

things have been a bit quiet at GOSSIP (Göttingen Open Source and Science Initiative of Psychology) in recent years. Some of you may not even be familiar with GOSSIP yet: GOSSIP is an institute-wide initiative that aims to promote dialogue about open science and open scientific practices at the institute. You can find more information about GOSSIP on our website: https://www.psych.uni-goettingen.de/de/gossip/home.

The current changes to the Open Science Framework (OSF) now provide a good opportunity to revive this dialogue. As many of you have likely already noticed, the OSF’s services will change significantly in the coming months. In the future, the OSF will primarily support pre-registrations and preprints; other platforms will be needed for sharing open materials and data.

We’d like to take this opportunity to discuss together what these changes mean for our work at the institute and what alternative solutions are available for sharing data, materials, and other research resources. In doing so, we’d like to talk about both potential institute-wide solutions and individual solutions and platforms that might be useful for specific research groups or projects.

When: Tuesday, October 20, 2026, 2:00–3:00 p.m.

Where: Room 1.110, Georg-Elias-Müller Institute for Psychology (GEMI)

To begin with, we’ll briefly summarize the most important changes. Afterward, we’d like to gather ideas and experiences together and discuss which solutions might make sense for us here at the institute. We’ll record the ideas we gather in a shared document and then make it available to everyone at the institute.

The meeting is informal and open to anyone interested—regardless of your status group or how much experience you’ve had with Open Science or the OSF so far.

We look forward to welcoming everyone who’d like to join us, exchange ideas, and work together to develop strategies for dealing with these changes!

Best regards,
Laura Botzet
